When you are hurting inside, you must learn how to “be” with your emotions. The healing process involves learning to accept your feelings, even the ones that are the most unbearable. By learning to accept these feelings, you can move through them instead of endlessly trying to avoid or escape from them.

I will help you uncover patterns that are getting in the way…

Therapy can help you uncover patterns that keep you stuck in anxious, or depressive states. These patterns probably took hold when you were younger and protected you at the time. For example, a child growing up in an abusive home may have silenced her wants and needs to avoid her parent’s rage. Silencing herself protected her during childhood, but it is now contributing to depression and anxiety in adulthood.

Realizing these patterns is the first step to making the changes necessary to heal depression or anxiety.

I will help you learn better ways to cope…

Therapy can help you learn ways to tend to your thoughts and feelings outside of therapy. This might include journaling, mindfulness practices, or other self-care activities. It’s hard to work these into your routine, but they will pay off by helping to bring relief to your hurts or calm your busy mind.

I encourage you to believe that healing is possible.

If you feel anxious or depressed, it might be hard for you to imagine anything different for your life. That’s what anxiety and depression do: They skew your outlook and keep you from believing in yourself and your future.
