Are you going through some dark days?
Or facing challenges or obstacles that feel insurmountable?
Sometimes you reach out to friends and family, but they don’t quite understand or know how to help.
Maybe it feels like the older your teen gets, the more distant they become. These are pivotal years in their life, and you want to make sure they’re okay and thriving.
Painful past experiences have left wounds that no one can see, but it doesn’t mean they aren’t there. You’re struggling with how to move forward so that you can enjoy life as you want to live it.
You want relief, and you’re ready for healing.
I know the decision to come to therapy rarely comes easily.
But going it alone is even harder.
As a therapist, I will meet you where you are so you don’t have to feel alone.
It’s okay if you have lost hope. I will hold that hope for you and your future as we work through whatever is in the way.
Here’s a little about what therapy looks like…
The first steps…
Naturally, you might be apprehensive about sharing things about yourself. Like any relationship, it takes time to build trust and be vulnerable in therapy. I will provide a nonjudgmental and caring space for you to share your story.
During our first few meetings, I will ask a lot of questions to get to know you and your struggles. I will also share my understanding of what you are going through and clarify what you want from therapy.
Moving forward…
As we move forward, coming to therapy is a place to breathe, let go, and slow down. Our society’s hectic nature rarely allows the time to reflect and process inner experiences. Therapy provides a unique space to deepen the connection with yourself.
I view my role as one that supports you in accessing your inner wisdom. Therefore, I won’t tell you how to live your life… or prescribe quick fixes. But I will help you uncover patterns that hold you back and support you in making changes to lead a more fulfilling life.
About Me
I came to be a therapist in a roundabout manner.
I’ve been reading books about psychology for as long as I can remember, but my first degree was in music. I enjoyed teaching piano for several years before going back to school for a Master of Education degree in school psychology.
I worked as a school psychologist for over ten years in public, private, and specialized school settings. I wore many hats, from special education testing to crisis counseling. Most of all, I enjoyed working individually with students in a counseling role.
My passion for counseling led me back to school to become a clinical psychologist. In 2014, I earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. I have helped many children, adolescents, and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, identity issues, and difficult life transitions.
My path has not been linear, but one theme that weaves through my life is my love of learning. I love to learn… but not just for the sake of learning. I like to put my knowledge to good use and help others.
I bring more to my work than just my credentials.
I worked hard for my degrees and am proud of my accomplishments, but I bring much more than that to therapy. I bring a deep sense of presence, my lived experience, and who I am as a person: genuine, caring, and creative.
My clients inspire me. I am inspired by their courage to take risks, be vulnerable, and challenge old patterns.
When I’m not doing therapy…
I find inspiration in nature, the arts, and time with family and friends.
Let’s move forward together.
I am committed to helping you heal from you pain and make lasting changes in your life.
It would be my pleasure to talk with you during a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we’re a good fit for each other.
